Two-way radios for warehousing and logistics

A distribution centre is noisy and busy. The shift manager needs to reach a picker on the far mezzanine, goods-in needs to tell the yard a trailer is ready, and a forklift driver needs to be heard over the engine without taking a hand off the controls. Radios are built for this; phones are not.

Inside the building we fit FW-400 or HP605 handhelds with noise-cancelling headsets, and Hytera HM785 vehicle sets on the forklifts. Across a large site or a steel-framed shed a repeater covers every aisle. For drivers and multi-depot companies, PoC radios put the whole operation on one group over 4G with live GPS, so the transport office can see every vehicle.

Logistics customers normally lease, with batteries and replacements included so a 24-hour operation is never short of working radios. We add radios for peak season on short-term hire.

What matters in warehousing and logistics

The problems radios solve here, and how we set them up.

Noise

Noise cancelling and behind-the-head headsets make calls clear next to conveyors and forklifts.

Steel sheds and mezzanines

UHF radios through a repeater cover racking, mezzanines and the yard.

Forklifts and vehicles

Vehicle sets mount on forklifts and yard tugs with a fist microphone so drivers keep both hands on the controls.

Drivers on the road

PoC radios give drivers push-to-talk back to the depot anywhere in the country, with GPS and an emergency button.

Warehousing and logistics: common questions

Can radios be mounted on forklifts?

Yes. The Hytera HM785 mounts on the cage with a fist microphone and runs off the truck battery. Handhelds can also sit in a vehicle cradle that charges them.

We have depots across the country. Can they be on one system?

Yes. PoC radios work over the mobile network, so every depot and every driver can be on one group with no range limit. On-site DMR fleets can be bridged into it through a gateway.

Do you supply extra radios for peak?

Yes. Peak-season hire adds radios to a leased fleet for the weeks you need them, programmed to the same channels.
